Transportation
Polenta is well-served by several San Francisco Municipal Railway (Muni) lines:
22 Fillmore: This bus runs directly along Fillmore Street, with stops just steps from the restaurant. It is the most direct north-south transit option.
21 Hayes: Provides east-west service along Hayes Street, stopping at the corner of Fillmore and Hayes.
6 Hayes/Parnassus: This line also runs along Hayes Street, connecting the Inner Sunset to Civic Center.
5 Fulton: Operates on McAllister Street, just a few blocks north of the restaurant.
Metro & BART: For those arriving via BART or Muni Metro, the closest connection is typically through the Civic Center Station followed by a transfer to the 5, 6, or 21 bus lines.
Parking
Street parking in this area can be competitive, especially during dinner hours.
Street Parking: Metered and residential parking is available on surrounding streets. Meters generally operate Monday through Saturday; however, they are often free after 6:00 PM.
Garages
Fitness SF Parking: A 24-hour paid lot located at 1385 Fillmore St.
Japan Center Main Garage: A large, safe option open until 11:00 PM nightly.
Japantown Fillmore St Annex Garage: Open until 10:00 PM daily.
Fillmore Heritage Garage:
Tpically closes at 8:00 PM, which may be too early for most dinner plans.
Bicycling
Hayes Valley is a very bike-friendly neighborhood. The Page Street Bicycle Route is a primary east-west artery nearby that provides a relatively calm path for cyclists coming from various parts of the city.

Due to the complexity and seasonality of the menu, we are not always able to accommodate all requests, but will try our best!
Among other restrictions and combination of restrictions, kindly note that we are unable to accommodate vegan (100% plant-based), gluten-free/Celiac, dairy-free, mushroom/funghi-free, sugar-free, salt-free and/or no-allium menus at this time.
Service Charge / SF Mandate Charge
A 5% surcharge is added to all checks to help cover the cost of the San Francisco Health Care Security Ordinance and employer mandates. This charge is not a tip or gratuity for service. We're happy to answer any questions about this charge.
Corkage Policy
$25 per 750mL bottle, up to two bottles. $50 per Magnum bottle, limit one. We kindly ask that the wines you bring are not already represented on our list. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to confirm your bottle ahead of your visit
